Wash
hands thoroughly each time you enter and exit the Tide Pool
area.
Ensure
animals are alive and in good health. Report any problems to 205
using the phone provided in the exhibit (x 1363). 205 will then
call Husbandry.
Check
Tide Pool surface and surrounding area for debris and throw away.
Check
headset for proper functioning. Report any problems to 205.
DUTIES:
Greet
and respond to all guests as they approach the Tide Pool. Use the
microphone and speech provided at the end of this topic to educate.
Handle
all animals carefully. Have children use only 2 fingers to touch
animals.
Guests may reach
in and gently (with one or two fingers) touch sea stars. Sea
stars are not to be lifted from the water. If all sea stars are out
of reach of a guest, you may move one within reach - preferably under
water.
Do
not handle any one animal excessively. Handle only the animals
in the gray bins. Do not leave the animals out of water for more
than 2-3 minutes.
If
any animals are attached to the side of the wall, do NOT
try to pry them off.
Do
not put anything on the concrete walls. Remove any foreign objects.
