All volunteers
are encouraged to use the microphones at the Tide Pool, Gator
Bayou, Kingdom of Penguins, and Shark Viewing exhibits.
ALWAYS HOOK
THE BASE UNIT ON YOUR WAIST - NEVER LEAVE UNATTENDED.
To use the microphone:
Turn it
on and talk slowly and distinctly into the microphone. Turn up
the volume if needed.
When speaking
about an exhibit or animal, use the WHEAT process: Welcome the guests. Highlight the features of the exhibit. Educate them with the facts you know.
Use words like "sometimes" and "usually"
rather than
"always"
and "never." Ask if there are any questions. Thank the guests for visiting the
Aquarium.
When your
shift is over, hand the microphone to the next volunteer or employee
or to 205 at the end of the day. Never leave it at the exhibit.
MICROPHONE
Only
speak to guests about facts concerning the exhibit.
If
guests want information other than that related to the exhibit,
refer them to the Information Desk.
